Week 1 co-MVPs: Nikola Vujcic and Dejan Milojevic
Plenty of players making their Euroleague debuts turned out to be protagonists in Week 1 of the Euroleague Basketball regular season, but when the index ratings were added up, familiar faces filled the top spots. The new season will be remembered for making history the very first week, as Thursday saw the first triple-double ever in a Euroleague game: 11 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists for Nikola Vujcic of Maccabi Tel Aviv, an easy winner at home against Prokom. That earned Vujcic a 33 index rating, which tied him as co-MVP of the week with Dejan Milojevic of Partizan, another regular in the rankings. Milojevic made 13 of 16 free throws among his 19 points and 12 rebounds, but Partizan lost at home to Pau-Orthez. Next in line, with index ratings of 31 each, were Marcus Goree of Benetton, who scored 16 points and pulled 11 rebounds in a home win against Bamberg, and Mickael Gelabale of Real Madrid, whose 20 points helped defeat visiting Unicaja. The fifth-best rating of the week was also a tie, at 30, between Juan Carlos Navarro of Winterthur FC Barcelona, who had 26 points while his team defeated Olympiacos, and Clint Harrison of Pau-Orthez
